Meet the Team
Petra Somen
After years of importing products for her spa, Petra knew it was time to create a beauty brand that is truly Kenyan. This passion gave rise to Jani Beauty. Following a year of dedicated research and development, Jani launched in December 2022. For Petra, Jani is more than just beauty; it’s a tribute to her roots, a commitment to supporting local farmers, and a way to share the natural beauty of Kenya with the world.
Fred Wachira
Fred has been working with Serenity Spa, our sister company, for 5 years in various roles. Having shown a real interest to be a part of the Jani story, Fred joined Jani in 2022 and was instrumental in starting the initial phases of Jani with production, testing, market feedback and processes. Fred’s attention to detail makes him the perfect choice to oversee production in Jani.
David Somen
With nearly 30 years in business, David co-founded Jani Beauty, driven by a desire to spotlight the amazing Kenyan ingredients available. Based in the UK with deep roots in Kenya, he sees Jani as more than a brand—it's a chance to empower communities and share Kenya's unique beauty with the world.
Jonathan Somen
Born and raised in Kenya, Jonathan's entrepreneurial spirit first sparked in 1994, leading him through various industries before he felt a call to return to his roots. Inspired by Kenya's rich resources and vibrant culture, he co-founded Jani Beauty, creating a brand that celebrates and uplifts the community. For him, Jani is a tribute to his homeland, an endeavour to share its beauty far and wide.
